National Nursing Home Week: “It’s a Small World with a Big Heart”

May 9, 2016 | Mark Woodka

National Nursing Home Week 2016Mother’s Day officially kicked off National Nursing Home Week, which occurs this year from May 8-May 14, 2016. During National Nursing Home Week, long-term care communities celebrate the wonderful professionals that provide care for residents every day of the year.

Each year a new theme is selected and this year is “It’s a Small World with a Big Heart.” Around the country, care communities will be holding carnival themed activities as a way to bring together the residents, caregivers, and family members.

This years’ theme couldn’t be more appropriate. As caregivers, you exhibit a huge amount of compassion for your residents on a daily basis. Long-term care providers strive to offer a true home-away-from-home for those that need around the clock care.

At OnShift we recognize the pressure and challenges you face as you care for your residents. In spite of those challenges, you create a welcoming environment for residents, family members, and staff. I love hearing stories from our staff of all the ways you go above and beyond. It makes me proud to work for an industry that does so much for others.

I’m happy for this time to recognize the important role of long-term care communities and the employees who work in them. I hope you enjoy this week and take some time to celebrate the important work you do. From all of us here at OnShift-- thank you for serving so selflessly!
